Symposium on the Strategic Partnership between University of Bonn and University of Tokyo


“One Health approach for Africa and Asia —- On-site innovation in health, nutrition, and agriculture for rural communities — “ held on 22 March, 2017

As part of the educational and research collaboration with the University of Bonn, International Symposium “One Health approach for Africa and Asia — On-site innovation in health, nutrition, and agriculture for rural communities — was held on 22 March, 2017.

The symposium was held at Nakashima hall in Yayoi campus of the University of Tokyo. The four lectures, covering fields related to health, nutrition, and agriculture for rural communities in Africa and Asia, gave the participants an opportunity to share their knowledge and explore possibilities for One Health Approach in innovative way to tackle issues in Asia and Africa.

The topics presented were as follows;

          Positive Deviance Approach for Infectious Disease Control: Behavier Change or Social Change? , Masamine Jimba, Professor, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo

          One Health Approach to the Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases with Special Attention on Leishmaniasis in Asia, Chizu Sanjoba, Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo

          Socio-economic Transformation of Rural Community and Health Status of Children in Rwanda, Hirotaka Matsuda, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, University of Tokyo
