About admission schedule and classes in response to coronavirus outbreak - 1 -

Lectures will move to online from new semester starting April 3. Admission schedule for September intake will be unchanged, but implemented with flexibility.

Dear prospective and current IPADS students,

Like all other communities around the world, IPADS/UTokyo is feeling strain under these unprecedented circumstances. We are continuously monitoring the situation on campus and around the world caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19), and trying to do our best to cope with the situation. Your safety, well-being and unchanged high quality educational experience are our priority.

Following are the information and instructions that we can let you know at this moment:

1. Our graduated school is going to resume its classes online from April 3 onwards. The first two weeks will be mainly devoted to the guidance and test lectures in online system. Those who are enrolling in April (note that April is the usual start of new academic year in Japan) will also start their academic year as existing students. For those who are coming from abroad and cannot arrive to Japan by the beginning of April due to the global spread of Covid-19 will be enrolled in the program through registration by proxy or postpone enrollment to September 2020 upon their request. However, nothing is decided yet regarding the September enrollment in 2020.
2. Currently those who holds a visa issued in countries where there is a spread of Covid-19 has been suspended to enter into Japan. No new visas are issued in these countries. 3. We can assure you that our graduate school is doing our best to meet the needs and requests of the students who has been admitted to our graduate school. This will be the same for you if you are accepted to IPADS for the September enrollment.

Having said this, we must also admit that this spread of Covid-19 virus is an unprecedented issue. It is difficult for us to gauge any measures which will be implemented by the government of Japan in the future and the repercussion these measures may have on September enrolment. It is, thus, up to you to decide whether to continue with the admission process or not. Please note that we cannot be responsible for any part of your decision that you may take.

We will update the information frequently and not delay in delivering necessary/useful information for your day to day decisions and convenience. If you have any inquiries, please contact our office without hesitation.
